If you could have lunch with any 3 people, who would they be, and why?
#1. My Auntie Esther. She passed away in 2010. She was THE best and such an amazing mother figure. I feel like I didn’t take in enough from her. As a child, I would spend a lot of time at her farm. She taught me how to cook Pansit (a Filipino noodle dish), her spaghetti was my favourite, and it didn’t matter what she was wearing – she always moved in a beautiful delicate way.
#2. My grandparents – they have both passed away a loooooong time ago. I loved them, a lot – not sure if you picked up on that? The story goes that I was attached to my grandpa at the hip, he would carry me everywhere. I can remember I loved standing behind him in his chair while he worked at his desk. I have no idea what he was working on, but I was so happy there. As an adult, I now realize how annoying it must’ve been to have a tiny person trying to share the chair while you worked. But he never said a thing. I was always welcome to be with him.
#3. I’d like I say my great grandmother because there are SO many stories about her. My only worry is that I wouldn’t be able to understand her. Would we just smile and nod? So, I’m also deciding between Carl Jung, Gloria Steinem, Oprah, Konstantin Stanislavsky, the ladies from the Baroness Von Sketch show, or Marky Mark. (I said it, we all love him and you know it.)
