Why did I choose the name the CO.conut?
Although a name change was encouraged, I chose the name because it is an easter egg.
To me, a great movie is filled with deeper meanings, delicious metaphors and easter eggs. If you don’t already know, an easter egg in a movie is an intentional hidden reference. There is more than meets the eye. In a great movie, the writer has intentionally left clues lying out in the open for you to discover and understand.
At first glance, the blog name is a simple reference to our business name. However, there is more. I chose the name because a coconut has many wonderful and profound meanings. It symbolizes new life, peace and progress. The coconut tree is referred to as the tree of life and symbolizes love, life, resiliency, and strength. The outstretched leaves of the coconut tree is a symbol of giving shelter for those that need it. The coconut itself has been used as a metaphor for human nature and the journey of life. The outer shell of the coconut can be understood as the ego and the pulp inside the coconut is the heart. The act of breaking open a coconut to get to the pulp is a symbol of the act of opening your heart, welcoming compassion and vulnerability. The opening and also the flowering of the coconut is the awakening of the soul.
To me, the symbol of the coconut is the essence of the CO. I hope to create a safe space that emanates and invites compassion, love, life, vulnerability, authenticity, resiliency, strength, and progress.
